Walmart plans to open 22 stores in Nuevo León

Walmart de México y Centroamérica will invest more than 1.8 billion pesos in Nuevo León by 2023. 

According to what was reported by the company, the capital will be used to open 22 units in its different formats: Bodega Aurrerá, Bodega Aurrerá Express, Mi Bodega Aurrerá, Sam’s Club and Walmart Supercenter.

Likewise, the company indicated that the openings will generate more than a thousand direct jobs and 240 indirect jobs in the state. 

“We are excited to share the investment and growth plans that the company has in the state of Nuevo León, as well as to reiterate the long-term commitment with our clients and partners to help them save money and live better”, mentioned Guilherme Loureiro, Executive President and General Director of Walmart de México and Central America. 

With the opening in the entity, Nuevo León will consolidate itself as the second state with the most stores and clubs in Mexico of the company, where daily they serve more than half a million customers and partners. 

Walmart contributes to the growth of Nuevo León 

Iván Rivas, the entity’s Secretary of Economy, reported that during January and February, Nuevo León companies were the ones that created the most jobs in Mexico, that is, 43,047 jobs. 

“Investments like Walmart’s help create more jobs and purchase options for Nuevo Leon families,” Rivas said.

In Nuevo León there are 13,000 people working in Walmart de México y Centroamérica stores and distribution centers . 

In addition, it is the state with the most stores of this chain in Mexico, with a total of 349 units. 

“We are trying to get the government to match the economic dynamics that today the world and nearshoring are bringing to Nuevo León; along with Walmart, with Tesla and other large investments, providers and service companies will arrive,” added Samuel García, governor of the entity.
