MONTERREY, NUEVO LEON — In response to an increase in highway robberies along major travel routes leading toward the United States border, authorities in Nuevo León have deployed high-tech mobile command centers to strengthen security for motorists and commercial traffic.
The initiative, spearheaded by the state police force Fuerza Civil, focuses on securing primary corridors heading toward border crossings in Nuevo Laredo and Reynosa.
Adolfo Flores Pader, acting commissioner of Fuerza Civil, announced during a press conference that two mobile units are currently operational. They have been positioned at key tourist and freight stopovers known as “Los Ahijados” and “El Rancho,” located along highways frequently targeted by criminal activity.
According to state officials, these mobile command posts feature advanced technology and maintain direct communication with Nuevo León’s C5 intelligence center, as well as the police force’s Intelligence and Investigation Division. This real-time integration allows security personnel to monitor highway conditions, coordinate immediate tactical responses, and dispatch patrols whenever emergency assistance is requested.
“This facilitates a swift deployment of units and personnel, providing a more agile, adequate, and attentive response for any aid the community may require,” Flores Pader stated.
The deployment forms part of the state’s seasonal vacation security initiative (Operativo Vacacional). Fuerza Civil’s Highway Division is carrying out these efforts in close coordination with Mexico’s National Guard. In addition to stationary command centers, state police are maintaining a presence at major rest stops and conducting “Carousel Operations” (Operativo Carrusel), in which patrol units physically escort vehicular convoys up to the Nuevo León state borders to prevent roadside ambushes and vehicle thefts.
