Through the Colombia-Laredo Customs Office, Volvo began exporting heavy-duty trucks produced at its plant in Ciénega de Flores, the largest facility the company has worldwide.
From this point, the units will cross the Nuevo León–Texas border and, after traveling through the United States, will reach the cities of Ottawa and Kingston in Canada.
The first shipment, made this week, consists of four Volvo VNR 300 tractor-trailers, a day-cab model with an optimized turning radius, high-performance diesel engines producing up to 455 HP, an automated transmission, and a lightweight structure focused on maneuverability and safety.
In a statement, the State Government indicated that the flow is expected to gradually increase.
It added that MEXLOG is responsible for transporting the Volvo units. The company is a Mexican transportation and logistics firm specializing in the overland transportation of heavy-duty vehicles and automobiles.
“We are living through a historic moment for Nuevo León,” said Marco González, Secretary of Regional and Agricultural Development of the state.
The official, who also serves as honorary director general of the Corporation for the Development of the Border Zone of Nuevo León (Codefront), added: “We are talking about the first cargo vehicles built at Volvo’s plant in our state being exported.”
The official highlighted that the automotive company chose the new La Gloria-Colombia Highway, which does not leave the state.

He argued that, both by its own conviction and upon MEXLOG’s recommendation, the automotive company will route all of its export production manufactured in Nuevo León and destined for North America through the Texas border.
“Nuevo León is consolidating its position as the best-connected state for tourism and international trade!” González emphasized.
