Víctor Fuentes, from Morena, resigned his candidacy for mayor of Monterrey
MONTERREY, N.L.-Víctor Fuentes Solís resigned from the candidacy for mayor of Monterrey to which he was nominated by the coalition “Together we will make history in Nuevo León”, led by Morena, considering that there are no conditions for healthy competition.
The announcement comes two days after the debate of the mayoral candidates of that city.
Through a statement, the former candidate explained that, following the interference of Governor Jaime Rodríguez in the National Action Party, he agreed to be the coalition’s citizen candidate.
He said that one of the reasons for the resignation is that in Monterrey and throughout the country, a sterile struggle is being entered between important actors of political and economic power.
The Morena party appointed Felipe de Jesús Cantú Rodríguez as its candidate for mayor of Monterrey at the last minute, after the resignation of Víctor Fuentes 25 days before the elections.
