Given the Federal Government’s intention to give the green light to projects such as the Suburban Train and the Monterrey-San Antonio Train, the State Government contemplates a budget allocation of 1,775 million pesos in 2024 for both.

After making a breakdown of the budget that has just been presented to the local Congress for this year, the government of Samuel García has predestined an amount of 1,725 million pesos for the Suburban Train project that will connect from the municipality of García to the Mariano Escobedo International Airport.

Nuevo León Government boasts a decrease in crime
“In addition, for the suburban train, an investment of 1,725 million pesos is planned, which will allow the use of existing roads to travel from the Municipality of García to the Mariano Escobedo International Airport. The benefits of these projects will not only be observed in terms of reducing congestion in the city, but also in reducing pollution levels in the metropolitan area,” says the project.
New federal administration would support project
It should be remembered that in her last visit as president-elect, Claudia Sheinbaum anticipated that this project would become a reality once she assumed the federal administration.

“We are going to continue with more infrastructure. The president recovered the passenger trains, in the neoliberal period they were privatized and the passenger trains were abandoned, the trains were now recovered in the southeast, the Mayan train, the interoceanic, now we are going to go north, we are going to make the Mexico, Querétaro, San Luis, Coahuila, Monterrey, Nuevo Laredo train,” she declared on August 18 at the Macroplaza.
Likewise, on September 8, 2022, Governor Samuel García Sepúlveda and Jorge Mendoza Sánchez, general director of Banobras, signed an agreement to begin with the studies of the suburban train where they agreed on an investment of 36 million pesos.

However, from then until now there had not been an update of the project until this 2024 budget where the aforementioned item is estimated, however, details about the start-up works were not broken down.

Studies of the train to San Antonio will cost 50 million pesos

Regarding the Monterrey-San Antonio Train, the administration of Samuel García has allocated a budget of 50 million pesos “in pre-investment studies and various works.”

The above, as part of the purpose of strengthening commercial relations with the United States through the Corporation for the development of the border zone of Nuevo León (Codefront).

“And 50 million pesos for pre-investment studies and various works of the San Antonio Train,” says the document.
As part of this project, on August 2 of last year, Marc D. Williams, executive director of the Texas Department of Transportation, formally reported that in 2024 they would start construction of the work that would initially go from the city of Laredo to San Antonio, and there the government of Nuevo León joined so that it would have an extension to Monterrey.

Another of the projects that they have contemplated to allocate resources are the Metrocable and the studies of the Morones Prieto viaduct.

Regarding the Metrocable issue, an amount of 50 million pesos is projected; while for the Morones Viaduct a similar resource of 50 million was set aside, in this last case, it will be for the realization of studies, for the Metrocable no further details were given.
