Government of Nuevo Leon boasts of work carried out for indigenous communities in the state

Within the International Day of Indigenous Peoples that was celebrated last August 9, the Secretariat of Equality and Inclusion of Nuevo León carried out different actions that affirm its commitment to the rights of these communities.

In what was mentioned by the secretary of the state agency, Martha Herrera mentioned that from her administration they will continue working so that all citizens of the entity have a level playing field of opportunities.

Medical attention to more than 26,500 people

Through the program La Nueva Ruta created by the Government of Nuevo León, it has been possible to serve more than 26,500 people who belong to these communities, where they are offered both health services, as well as housing, employment and food.

These actions are also added to the more than 75 Tequio HUB Intercultural Fairs, in which more than 858 indigenous people have participated and have been able to generate more than 2 million 700 thousand pesos during 2023 and so far in 2024.

The Secretariat of Equality has also joined forces to include this group of people in the Community Centers that exist in the state such as the case of; Héctor Caballero and Arboleadas de los Naranjos in Juárez; Lomas de la Fama and La Ermita in Santa Catarina; Fernando Amilpa in Escobedo and Valle de la Esperanza, in Monterrey.

Within the 2020 Cesso of Inegi, in the northeastern state live more than 457 thousand people who describe themselves as indigenous, where 78 thousand speak some indigenous language, with Nahuatl, Huasteco, Zapotec and Otomi standing out.
