The state Secretary of Economy explained that SMEs that belong to the “Made in Nuevo Leon” program will receive training and those that pass the quality test and comply with the standards of the self-service store will be able to sell their products.

Monterrey, NL. The Secretary of Economy of Nuevo Leon and Walmart signed a collaboration agreement so that small and medium-sized companies (SMEs) of the “Made in Nuevo Leon” Program can be suppliers of the American chain.

The SMEs will receive training and will learn in detail the requirements and opportunities that Walmart offers them.

Iván Rivas Rodríguez, state Secretary of Economy explained that “the businesses enter a training process, and those that pass the quality test and comply with the company’s standards will be able to sell their products in the stores.”

“This agreement is very good, because we develop local supply and the businesses can grow, learning from the company’s good practices,” he added.

For his part, Javier Treviño, senior vice president of Corporate Affairs at Walmart of Mexico and Central America, highlighted: “we are going to reach more SMEs to continue promoting their growth.”

“Currently, 85% of our self-service suppliers in Mexico are SMEs, therefore, we will continue with a sustained commitment to generate economic and development opportunities to continue generating new sources of direct employment and thereby contribute to the economic development of the state,” he said.

Hecho en Nuevo León is a free platform that helps transform ideas into companies, and offers established businesses training to grow; from improving product presentation, strengthening their sales skills, to exhibiting at fairs outside the state, maturing and migrating to stores, through courses and events to promote their products.

It currently has 1,384 new micro, small and medium-sized affiliated companies, and has taught more than 130 courses to 6,262 participants.
