Luis Donaldo Colosio wins the Monterrey mayoral election

Luis Donaldo Colosio Riojas, son of former PRI presidential candidate Donaldo Colosio Murrieta who was assassinated in the 1994 elections, is the new mayor elected of Monterrey, Nuevo León, for the Movimiento Ciudadano party after sweeping the election.

According to the Preliminary Election Results Program (PREP), Colosio Riojas obtained 229 thousand 655 votes on Sunday, an equivalent to 47.4294 percent, with which he far surpassed his opponents.

In a distant second place, the candidate Francisco Reynaldo Cienfuegos Martinez of the PRI-PRD coalition was positioned, who obtained 151 thousand 807 votes, a 31.3519 percent.

Luis Donaldo Colosio Riojas, was born in Magdalena de Kino, Sonora in 1985. He has a law degree from Tec de Monterrey.

He was a local deputy in the Nuevo León State Congress from September 1, 2018 to February 1, 2021.
