Nuevo León is the third state with the highest generation of electronic waste in Mexico, with 20,835 tons per year, that is why the senator, Víctor Fuentes Solís, began a campaign to collect this type of waste among the citizens.
The Nuevo Leon representative in the Upper House stressed that electronic waste, also known as “e-waste”, represents serious damage to the environment, so the community is offered a safe option for the confinement of this waste, with the support from the company Seralsa Avi Melamed, a leader in recycling.
Fuentes Solís explained, that people will be able to deliver their waste from their car windows and that people who arrive on foot can deliver the e-waste directly to the specialized staff at the reception area, in order to reduce contact and save the healthy distance.
The waste that will be received is cell phones, chargers, power cables, data cables, laptops, CPUs, tablets, modems, regular, cable TV receivers, and household appliances.
For the delivery of electronic waste, people can attend the Committee of Senator Víctor Fuentes, located in Hidalgo 2006, Obispado neighborhood, of the Monterrey capital, from Monday to Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
He said that Mexico produces more than 358 thousand tons of electronic waste in the form of appliances and electronics, the equivalent of 3.2 kilograms of waste for each Mexican, according to estimates by the National Institute of Ecology and Climate Change (INECC).
