During the first quarter of 2026, Nuevo León’s economy demonstrated remarkable resilience and momentum, growing at a rate more than three times higher than the national average. According to the Quarterly Indicator of State Economic Activity (ITAEE) published by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), the state’s economic activity expanded by 1.4% between January and March, easily outpacing the 0.4% growth recorded nationwide.
State officials highlighted that this strong performance firmly positions Nuevo León as a leading economic engine in Mexico, even amid a complex international landscape. The robust quarterly results were largely driven by significant gains across multiple sectors. Primary activities experienced an impressive surge of 26.8%, while the construction sector advanced by 5.4%. Additionally, the commerce sector grew by 3.9%, establishing itself as one of the primary contributors to the state’s overall economic expansion during the period.
The Secretary of Economy for Nuevo León emphasized that these positive figures reflect an ongoing commitment to business empowerment, strategic investment attraction, and robust support for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises. State leadership attributes this historic growth phase to the continued confidence of private enterprises, industrial strength, and the dedication of the local workforce. Moving forward, the state government intends to maintain proactive public policies designed to bolster competitiveness, foster job creation, and sustain long-term economic development across the region.
