Princess Hisako of Takamado, Honorary Patron of the Japan Football Association, arrived in Nuevo León this Friday for an official visit that underscores the state’s strategic importance in the lead-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
During her stay, she was received in the Juárez Room of the Government Palace by Governor Samuel García and the head of the “Love Nuevo León” program, Mariana Rodríguez, marking a high-level diplomatic encounter for the state.
Why did Princess Hisako visit Nuevo León?
The presence of the representative of the Japanese Imperial House is in response to an invitation extended by Governor Samuel García during a previous working visit to Japan. The main objective is to attend the 1,000th match in the history of the World Cup, which will be held in Nuevo León.
The governor described the event as an honor and emphasized that this visit is the result of a close bilateral relationship that has flourished thanks to increased Japanese investment and various cultural exchanges in the region.
This meeting takes place within a context of growing cooperation between Mexico and Japan, encompassing fundamental pillars such as economic development, cultural exchange, and international sports promotion.
For state authorities, Princess Hisako’s visit not only strengthens the friendship between the two nations but also positions Nuevo León as a key location on the global map in the lead-up to the 2026 World Cup.
Princess Hisako’s agenda in the state highlights Nuevo León’s role as a strategic host of the world’s most important sporting event.
By strengthening diplomatic relations with the Imperial Family, the state seeks to project an image of stability and openness, consolidating its relevance not only in the industrial and economic spheres but also as a key player in Mexico’s international and sporting agenda.
