A Civil Force police officer ran over and killed a cyclist and then fled on Ruiz Cortines Avenue in Monterrey.
The accident was reported Sunday night at the intersection of Conchello and Guerrero Avenues, near the Victoria neighborhood.
Rescuers from Monterrey’s Civil Protection and paramedics from the Mexican Red Cross arrived at the scene and confirmed the cyclist’s death.

Initial reports indicate that vehicle FC0538A1 was speeding eastbound on Ruiz Cortines Avenue when it struck the man riding a bicycle.
The officer subsequently crashed into a tow truck, got out of the vehicle, and ran from the scene.
The victim has not yet been identified; it was only reported that he was between 60 and 65 years old.
Experts from the State Investigation Agency are investigating the incident for the crime of culpable homicide.
