More than a year after its announcement, State Governor Samuel García delivered the new 400-meter boardwalk at La Boca Dam this Saturday.

This project, which involved an investment of 110 million pesos and was announced on April 14, 2024, included the expansion of the existing boardwalk, adding a 10-meter average width and one-way vehicular access, as well as a bicycle path, walkways, and landscaping with trees.

The state governor assured that this project will boost commercial development in the area surrounding the reservoir with safe infrastructure and generating quality services that will increase the number of visitors to the area.

“Today, the important thing is that the Malecón is finished. Today, the important thing is that we have a modernized hydraulic system that will allow us to regulate the flow of water into and out of the La Boca Dam so that it never again falls below 90 percent.

We’re going to have more catamarans, more projects, and more hotels here,” said García Sepúlveda. He also emphasized that, one year before the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the La Boca Dam will become a tourist hub for national and international visitors.
