In October, bhe businessmen of Nuevo León demanded that Samuel Alejandro García Sepúlveda, governor of the State, fulfill his mandate in full length and not seek the presidential candidacy of his party, Movimiento Ciudadano, for 2024.

“We express our concern and call on those who hold public positions to honor the responsibility they have assumed before the citizens who, through the popular vote, gave them their support,” declared Caintra, the Civic Council, Coparmex Nuevo León, Canaco Servytur Monterrey, Index, Canadevi and Caprobi.

Industrial, business, and commercial organizations affirmed that the responsibility of governing entails the ethical and exemplary management of their functions with concentrated dedication and full compliance with their mandate.

Today, Governor Samuel García presented a request to the Congress of Nuevo Léon to be granted leave to separate from his position to participate as a contender in the 2024 presidential elections.

“Nuevo León is at a key moment in its history with great opportunities and challenges for its future,” the business organizations noted in their reaction.

They added that although there is the right of every citizen to compete in an election, “it is a cause for concern that, for the second consecutive time, a governor during his term considers the possibility of pausing his exercise of government and aspiring to an electoral project of far-reaching national”, about the previous governor, Jaime Rodríguez Calderón, “El Bronco”.
