The death of a man and the discovery of a woman found lifeless inside a room at the Hotel Safi Metropolitan, in Nuevo León, prompted a mobilization of police officers, rescuers, and forensic personnel during the morning of Sunday, August 16.
The events occurred at the Metropolitan Center complex, located at the intersection of Lázaro Cárdenas and Diego Rivera avenues, in the Valle Oriente area of San Pedro Garza García.
Although initial reports suggest that the two deaths could be related, the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Nuevo León will have to establish the sequence of events, the causes of both deaths, and any possible responsibilities. So far, the versions that have circulated are preliminary.
Man allegedly jumped from one of the hotel’s floors
The operation began at approximately 8:25 a.m., after authorities received a report of a person who had fallen from an elevated area of the complex.
The man’s body was left outside the building, near the parking lot entrance. Paramedics who arrived at the scene examined him but determined that he no longer had vital signs.
According to information published by N+, the deceased man allegedly fell from a building located on Lázaro Cárdenas Avenue. Other reports indicate that he allegedly ran toward a terrace and subsequently jumped.
The San Pedro Public Security Department initially reported that the man may have attempted to take his own life. However, it clarified that the investigative authorities will be responsible for precisely determining how the fall occurred.
Local media reported that the man had allegedly been seen behaving erratically inside the facilities minutes earlier. Security personnel reportedly attempted to approach him but were unable to stop him before he reached a terrace.
Some reports place the point of the fall on the hotel’s 15th floor, while other versions mention a different height. This information will have to be clarified through an inspection of the property, analysis of security camera footage, and expert examinations.
Woman found lifeless inside a room
During an inspection of the facilities, hotel personnel and authorities found a woman lifeless inside a room at the Hotel Safi Metropolitan.
According to available reports, the body was found in room 803 and had injuries and apparent signs of violence. The cause of death has not been officially reported.
The possible connection between the two deaths arose because the man had allegedly been staying in the same room. However, this information, as well as the nature of the relationship between the two, is part of the investigation and must be confirmed by the Nuevo León Attorney General’s Office.
Information published by Reporte Índigo states that the main hypothesis considers that the man may have killed the woman before jumping. However, the prosecutorial institution had not publicly confirmed this sequence of events or formally attributed any responsibility.
It had also not been established whether the woman’s death would legally be classified as femicide. In cases involving violent deaths of women, authorities must apply the corresponding protocols and exhaust the lines of investigation before determining the final legal classification.
Prosecutor’s Office analyzes cameras and gathers testimony
Members of the State Investigation Agency and specialists from the Institute of Criminalistics and Forensic Services entered the hotel to process the room, search for evidence, and remove the woman’s body.
Outside, municipal police officers cordoned off the area where the man was found. His body was removed at approximately 10:20 a.m. and transferred to the forensic facility for the legally required autopsy.
Among the procedures that will help clarify the case are:
- Review of the hotel’s and Metropolitan Center’s surveillance cameras.
- Interviews with employees, guests, and security guards.
- Analysis of entry and lodging records.
- Forensic inspection of room 803.
- Autopsies to determine the causes and approximate times of death.
- Genetic, toxicological, and forensic examinations.
- Reconstruction of both individuals’ movements inside the property.
Local media reported that the connection between the two deaths remains a hypothesis. Therefore, it has not been officially established that the man caused the injuries suffered by the woman.
Identities remain subject to official confirmation
Various media outlets published possible identities, ages, and places of origin of the deceased individuals. However, these details have not been corroborated through a public statement from the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Nuevo León, and should therefore be considered preliminary.
There are also differences among media reports regarding the man’s age, the height from which he allegedly fell, and some of the injuries found. These discrepancies will have to be resolved through forensic results and official information.
After the initial procedures outside were completed, authorities removed part of the security perimeter. The hotel and the commercial complex continued operating through alternate entrances, while the room involved in the investigation remained restricted.
The Nuevo León Attorney General’s Office will be responsible for determining whether the two deaths are directly related, clarifying what happened inside the room, and establishing whether any crime was committed.
