The construction of the monorail that will be part of Nuevo León’s new mobility network is 94 percent complete in terms of its stations, Governor Samuel García Sepúlveda reported during an inspection tour of the infrastructure works along the Santa Catarina River.
The state governor highlighted that the project is shaping up to become one of the main components of the expansion of the Metro system and assured that it will be the longest monorail on the continent.
“We are at 94 percent in terms of the stations,” García Sepúlveda said during the inspection.
Stations Will Be Connected to Road Corridors
According to the governor, the new infrastructure will be accompanied by a series of pedestrian bridges that will connect the stations with different areas of the metropolitan region and facilitate access for users.
In particular, he highlighted the construction of the La Virgen and Nuevo bridges, which will be integrated with the stations and with the Morones Prieto and Constitución corridors.
García Sepúlveda stated that the flow of users who will use these crossings will help increase demand for the transportation system.
The governor explained that this connection will allow users to choose between different destinations through the transportation system, including areas such as San Pedro and the Airport.
Finishing Work and Complementary Construction Progress
During the tour, García Sepúlveda also noted that work on the stations continues with the installation of finishing elements, in addition to complementary pedestrian connection works.
The project is part of the state strategy to expand public transportation capacity and create connections between the new Metro lines, road corridors, linear parks, and areas of urban activity.
