The 2027 election for the governorship of Nuevo León already appears to be a tight race, according to a poll conducted in the state by El Financiero.

The survey shows Morena leading in party preference with 31%, followed by Movimiento Ciudadano at 22%—trailing by 9 points. Meanwhile, the PAN and PRI—which could potentially form an alliance—combine for 19%. Morena’s allies, the PVEM and PT, garner a combined 3%.

The most popular figures in the state are Mariana Rodríguez, with a 37% positive opinion rating and 29% negative; followed by Morena’s Clara Luz Flores, with 34% positive and 31% negative opinions.

Andrés Mijes and Luis Donaldo Colosio both hold a 32% favorable rating, with unfavorable ratings of 29% and 32%, respectively.

Tatiana Clouthier falls below the 30% mark for positive opinions, at 25%, while Félix Arratia and Adrián de la Garza stand at 23% and 21%, respectively.

At the bottom of the list are Waldo Fernández, Carlos de la Fuente, César Garza, and Daniel Carrillo, with ratings ranging from 11% to 14%.

How would Mariana Rodríguez fare as a candidate in Nuevo León?

In a hypothetical scenario where Mariana Rodríguez runs as the Movimiento Ciudadano (MC) candidate against Morena’s Tatiana Clouthier and the PAN-PRI’s Adrián de la Garza, the Morena candidate leads with 31%, while Mariana Rodríguez captures 26% and De la Garza 17%.

Both Mariana Rodríguez and Adrián de la Garza are the frontrunners to represent their respective parties. Mariana garners 24 percent of voter preference for Movimiento Ciudadano, surpassing Félix Arratia (17 percent) and Luis Donaldo Colosio (15 percent).

Meanwhile, De la Garza captures 19 percent of preference to lead the PAN-PRI alliance, followed by César Garza Villarreal with 13 percent. Carlos de la Fuente takes 7 percent, placing third.

How is the race shaping up within Morena for Nuevo León?

Within Morena, the internal contest is led by Andrés Mijes with 18 percent, followed by Clara Luz Flores with 16 percent. Tatiana Clouthier appears in third place with 12 percent, and just behind her, Waldo Fernández draws 11 percent.

The study indicates that the approval rating for Governor Samuel García (Movimiento Ciudadano) stands at 40 percent, while his disapproval rating is 58 percent.

Regarding the administration’s performance, the handling of the state’s economy registers 42 percent favorable and 39 percent unfavorable opinions.

Public security and corruption garner 21 percent and 22 percent favorable opinions, respectively, and 59 percent and 61 percent unfavorable opinions among respondents.

Methodology: A survey in the state of Nuevo León conducted via telephone from June 30 to July 5, 2026, among 600 adults with valid voter ID cards. A probability sample of landline and mobile phones was used, employing random number generation. With a 95% confidence level, the margin of error for the estimates is +/- 4.0 percent. “The results reflect the electoral preferences and opinions of the respondents at the time the study was conducted and are valid for that specific population and timeframe.”
