The governor of Nuevo León, Samuel García, stated that Nuevo León “is more than ready” to have the Monterrey-Laredo passenger train, an idea that is being promoted by the Federal government.

On his social networks, the state leader announced that the Secretary of Mobility, Hernán Villarreal, and the director of Metrorrey, Abraham Vargas, had a meeting where they learned in depth some details surrounding this project.

“Secretary Hernán Villarreal and the director of Metrorrey, Abraham Vargas, went to the meeting of the Monterrey-Laredo passenger train, where the routes and coordination with the Federation were reviewed so that this megaproject becomes a reality. Nuevo León is more than ready to have this train and the north continues to be a reference in economy and mobility,” he wrote.

Saltillo-Monterrey section expected to be completed in 2027
Last December, Samuel García himself announced that the works related to this train would begin in 2025, so it is expected that some sections that are part of Nuevo León will be ready by 2027.

This was after the emecista met with personnel from the Ministry of Communications and Transportation (SCT), who informed the State that there will be connectivity with Line 4 of the Metro.

“The passenger train will start next year and the idea is to finish the Saltillo – Monterrey, Monterrey – Nuevo Laredo section in 2027, and we will also connect it with Line 4 of the Metro, and therefore to the entire Metro system with the six future lines,” García Sepúlveda said at the time.

Train will start in Mexico City and end in Nuevo Laredo
It should be noted that the entire route of this train will be Mexico City-Nuevo Laredo, with Monterrey included in the route.

In fact, Nuevo Leon will have three stations: the first in Salinas Victoria, the second on Madero Avenue, at the height of Jordan Street, and the third in San Jerónimo and Diaz Ordaz, where it will connect with Metro Line 4.

“The best thing is that it will be a fast train that will reach up to 170 kilometers per hour, we are very happy, we will finally have the suburban train project, more subway, more roads, more customs and new trucks,” Garcia said weeks ago.
