The governor of Nuevo León explained in a press conference that in the meeting this Tuesday, August 6 with the president-elect, he highlighted the importance of considering the Interserrana highway as a strategic project, which is estimated to have an investment of 1,742 million pesos.

Monterrey, NL. Governor Samuel García presented the strategic projects of Nuevo León to the virtual president-elect, Claudia Sheinbaum, and asked her to consider the Interserrana Highway as a presidential project, due to its connection with Texas.

“The project that we ask to be presidential, (is the Interserrana Highway), as you will see, Nuevo León connects with Ciudad Victoria, Brownsville, Reynosa, Nuevo Laredo, Colombia, Acuña and it is really the industrial hub of connection with Texas and the United States,” he said.

The Interserrana Highway is already under construction, with an overall progress of 7.87%, and an estimated investment of 1,742 million pesos. This work will connect the south with the citrus region through the mountains.

According to the map presented by the president, section 1 comprises 15 kilometers where modernization works will be carried out and has a junction with the National Highway south of Monterrey. Section 2 is in the executive project phase, it is 38 kilometers long and Section 3 has a length of 34 kilometers.

“This meeting was key due to the issue of permits because everything that is done adjacent to the Santa Catarina River, everything that is done in the Sierra Madre, everything that is done to connect federal highways requires permits from the National Water Commission, the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) and Semarnat,” said the governor of Nuevo Leon.

In a press conference he said that the cabinet took note of this presentation and set a goal of obtaining permits by October 1 to no longer delay the projects, the governor stressed.

Long-term water plan

The governor said that in terms of water, the federal government will carry out the analysis of the viability of the Pánuco River project, through a dialogue table with the states through which the tributary passes: Veracruz, San Luis Potosí and Tamaulipas; a review of concessions will also be carried out so that drinking water for human consumption is privileged, as well as allowing the use of treated water.

Construction of housing in metropolitan areas

Likewise, the state leader highlighted that another area that will benefit Nuevo León is the plans of the president-elect, Claudia Sheinbaum, in housing, with the idea of building a million houses in metropolitan areas, since the state has become a recipient of Mexican citizens from other states.

Likewise, he highlighted that in his presentation he also reported on other public works in which progress has already been made during his first three years of government, such as the seven Fuerza Civil detachments; the Libertad Dam; the Puerto Colombia Master Plan with the expansion of toll booths and lanes; the New Security Building; the Gloria-Colombia Highway; the new Metro Lines 4 and 6, as well as the State Highway 001 North.
